Who is easier to indoctrinate, men or women?
by kneehighmiah infrom purely anecdotal evidence, i believe women are more indoctrinated on average.
i can openly disagree with the governing body with men and it results in a discussion however, most women i've talked to have immediately shut me down by ending the conversation.
the only person currently shunning me is a woman.

Yes cofty, I get that, the yin & yang creates a tension that is compelling.

Well, cofty, all women are looking for the perfect male and Jesus claims to be just that. Self-praise is no man’s recommendation, except when one is god’s son.
Complicated is good because it covers a multitude of sins.

Millions die in Natural disasters - God is doing nothing. Do I adopt Anthropomorphism to him?
by KateWild ini do not think god is a'morphic.
god is not human, so hence he does not possess human characteristics, to know god better and to understand him better i study science.
there has been a new discovery of strange signals picked up from black holes and distant supernovae suggest there's more to space-time than einstein believed.

Kate - can you explain to me what anthropomorphism is - and how do I avoid catching it?

Well according to the bible women are not worthy because they are the weaker vessel. So, it would be easy to assume that they are easier to indoctrinate than the strong male vessels. Wrong!
I have been married long enough to know that women have bullet proof minds that are programmed to do the complete opposite of anything they are asked to do. They are never wrong and know everything there is to know at birth.
If women ran the Watchtower Society it wouldn’t be in such a mess, and would be still be charging for literature and laying on food at assemblies.

Well, I won’t be in the new-world, but for those of you blessed enough to mix with the ancient worthies - please tell Moses to keep taking the tablets. There is no need for him to lose his temper and break them again. I am joking; most of the Moses ledged is nothing more than bull-rushes.
Hi Myelaine - I see you are lost again.

Is there anything you could do forever that wouln't get boring?
by mynameislame innot sure when i came to this conclusion but i can't imagine living forever.
after a while i think i would be completly bored with everything.. not saying i wouln't like to live for a few hundred years or maybe even a few thousand if i could travel through space and discover other universes star trek style.
but the thought of living forever sounds like it would eventually become a complete drag.. maybe i'm wrong, maybe after a thousand years or so you would foregt all the stuff that happend at the beginning and just start over in an infinite loop..

Not many people asleep in death get bored.
This is why you will never see a cemetery with graveside TV.

Jesus' Teachings - Helpful or Harmful?
by jgnat inspinning off from another thread, have jesus' teachings been less than universally helpful to mankind?
how do we measure if a particular philosophy is helpful or harmful?.
i am going to use the "universal morals" listed here.

Personally I prefer Zen-Buddhism, the way of the Tao or even Ghandi’s philosophy. Even the philosophy of the Epicureans, when properly examined, has a lot of merit.
Jesus teaching, as paraphrased in various Bible translations, are both helpful and harmful in equal measure. They are also contradictory. Mind you, Jesus’ ability to turn water into wine could sway me!

The Christian Hope--Is it in Heaven or on Earth?
by DS211 inso is the christian hope in heaven or on earth?.
in acts chapter 1the question was raised: 6 so when they had assembled, they asked him: lord, are you restoring the kingdom to israel at this time?
7 he said to them: it does not belong to you to know the times or seasons that the father has placed in his own jurisdiction.. notice jesus never said thered be a change in venue, just that it wasnt up to them to know when..... so what is there from both sides?

I do believe we are singing from the same hymn-sheet.
